2024 Developers Workshop

Come work with us to get your tool onto VICTOR!

Please join us this August for another VICTOR workshop, specially planned for community members to create, hone, standardize, and publish their programs!

Please fill out this form to register. Expect to hear results in mid to late June. A partial reimbursement will be given to all attendees. We hope to see you in New York this summer!

 

The overarching goal of the workshop is to work with all of you towards integrating your software tools into the VICTOR platform.

Day 1 will begin with an introduction to VICTOR and a hands-on activity using it, followed by short (5-7 minutes) presentations by each participants about the tools they are bringing to the workshop. Participants will then define their goal and plan for the rest of the workshop. We will have a keynote lecture on topics related to open science.

Day 2 will focus on working towards the participants goals, with brainstorming, coding, testing, and fun altogether. We will also have a keynote lecture about computation and data science.

On Day 3, participants will present progress towards their goals, demonstrate the use of their tools, and make a plan for follow-up developments. 

A detailed schedule will be provided closer to the workshop date.

1. Dates and location

The workshop takes place August 14-16. Please plan to arrive at the hotel by Tuesday August 13th evening, and depart Friday after lunch.

We reserved a block of rooms at Hotel Nyack, located at 400 High Ave, Nyack, NY.

Workshop activities will be at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, located at 61 Route 9W, Palisades, NY.

2. Food

We will provide lunch and coffee breaks on all three days, dinner on Wednesday and Thursday.

3. Transportation

The nearest airport to Nyack/LDEO is Newark. JFK and La Guardia are also decent options. From the airport, you can either take a taxi or rent a car to get to the hotel. We can reimburse you on either.
